Two Nishat Group firms sign solar and battery storage deals worth 45MW
Nishat Mills and D.G. Khan Cement told the stock exchange they will add solar plants and batteries, due to start generating in March 2027.

Two companies of the Nishat Group are adding solar plants with battery storage, according to disclosures made to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on 23 September. ProPakistani reported that Nishat Mills and D.G. Khan Cement signed agreements for projects that together total 45 megawatts of solar power and 45 megawatt hours of storage.
Nishat Mills will build a 20 megawatt solar plant with a 35 megawatt hour battery system. It will serve the company's Bekhi and Ferozwattan plants on the Sheikhupura Faisalabad Road.
D.G. Khan Cement will build a 25 megawatt solar plant with a 10 megawatt hour battery system at its cement plant in Mauza Khofli Sattai, Dera Ghazi Khan.
Both companies signed with the same group of partners. They are EBR Energy Pakistan, Sungrow Power Supply of China and Pragmatic Engineering Solutions FZE. Both projects are expected to start generating power in March 2027, ProPakistani said.
Why storage is now part of the deal
Large manufacturers have been installing solar for years to cut their electricity bills. Adding batteries is a newer step. Stored daytime power can be used in the evening, when grid supply is costlier or less reliable.
The Nishat announcement is not the only one this autumn. Cemnet, a cement industry publication, reported that the board of Fauji Cement approved battery storage with dedicated solar power on 22 September, in a notice to the stock exchange.
Nishat Mills was established in 1951 and is a vertically integrated textile company that also generates and sells electricity. D.G. Khan Cement was established in 1978 and is majority owned by the Nishat Group.
For Pakistan's energy technology companies, these deals show where industrial demand is heading. Installers, inverter suppliers and software firms that can manage storage will find buyers among exporters and cement makers.
