Bestway Group introduced Geely Auto to Pakistan on 24 October at a launch ceremony in Park View City, Islamabad, but gave buyers no prices and no booking dates. Bestway called it a proud moment for the company. Geely calls Pakistan its first market in South Asia, and this is the first formal launch of the brand here.

Three models open the lineup. The EX2 is a compact electric hatchback for city driving, which Bestway's July announcement called China's best selling passenger vehicle of 2025. The EX5 is an electric SUV. The Starray is a range extended electric vehicle: it drives on battery power and carries a petrol engine for extra range. Bestway's July release named its system EM i and described it as a plug in hybrid SUV, while the launch release says EM R. Final local specifications were not announced either.

From signing to showroom

Bestway Automotive (Private) Limited is Geely's sole authorised distributor in Pakistan and will run sales and after sales support. The agreement was signed at Geely's headquarters in Hangzhou, China, and announced on 7 July. Bestway said then that cars would arrive first as completely built units, which would give customers early access to Geely's products through its distribution network, and would be assembled later at its existing plant in Karachi. Early buyers should therefore expect imported cars first, with Karachi assembly following.

Irfan Sheikh, Bestway's group managing director for non banking businesses, said the company is preparing that facility for local assembly. Dawn reported that it is the former Proton plant at Port Qasim, which Bestway acquired. Sheikh said Bestway will also focus on localisation and on building a charging network.

“Our aim is to have locally assembled Geely vehicles on Pakistan's roads within the next few months.”

Bestway's case

Bestway says it has invested more than $350 million in Pakistan over the last three years, across sectors including cement and banking, and supports more than 20,000 jobs. Those are company figures. Group founder Sir M. Anwar Pervez and chairman Lord Zameer Choudrey attended the ceremony alongside senior executives from both companies, industry leaders and the media.

“Pakistan is our first market in South Asia, and we see significant potential here.”

Geely joins BYD, XPENG and Avatr, which have all set out Pakistani launches or plants in recent weeks. Bestway has yet to say when it will publish a price list or when assembly in Karachi will begin.
