Finance minister and digital authority study tokenising real estate
Pakistan is looking at digital assets and tokenisation for property and other investments. Officials called for a framework first, and no pilot has been announced.

Pakistan's finance minister has discussed tokenising real estate and other investment assets with the head of the country's digital authority, Profit reported on 13 August.
Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met Dr Sohail Munir, chairperson of the Pakistan Digital Authority. According to the Finance Division, as relayed by Profit, they reviewed how the country could study digital assets and tokenisation, including their possible use in property.
Tokenisation means turning a share in an asset, such as a building, into a digital token that can be bought and sold in small amounts. It is the idea behind many fractional property investment startups, and it is a field that Pakistani proptech founders have been watching.
The two officials stressed the need for a regulatory and institutional framework that supports responsible adoption of new technologies. Aurangzeb said existing frameworks should evolve with advances in digital technology and emerging business models.
“existing frameworks should evolve in line with advances in digital technology and emerging business models.”
The talks ranged wider than property. Aurangzeb called for simpler customer onboarding, stronger data sharing and better links between banks and capital markets. They also discussed faster digital account opening to bring more people into the capital market, and better connected government data.
The report gave no figures, timelines or decisions. It did not say when the meeting took place, and it did not describe any approved platform or pilot. For now, the story is a signal of policy interest, not a launch. Startups that want to offer tokenised property will need clear rules from regulators before they can do so.
